Check Available Sources for a Title
In Add Title, you can create new bibliograpMMhic records. Because there may be an existing record in your collection, Alliance Plus® Online, or a Z39.50 server that would meet your needs or require only minor modifications, you can also search for a record. To search for a record![]()
Wildcard support![]() If you do not know the complete word, or are not sure how to spell it, add an asterisk (*) to the end of what you do know. An asterisk can replace any number of letters at the end of a word. However, the * cannot be used as a words first or second letter or have any letters after it. You can use a question mark (?) to replace a single letter. You can use more than one question mark in a word, but it cannot be the first or last letter. MARC fields Destiny searches![]() Destiny searches the following fields for each search type. Keyword searches search all these fields.
Additional information![]() What happens if Destiny finds no matching records? If Destiny does not find any matches, the Brief Title tab or the MARC Editor opens (depending on your preference during the current session). To help you create a record, your search term or number is automatically entered in the appropriate field and the material type you chose is selected from the list. If you prefer not to—or cannot—create a record from scratch, search again using a broader search term to find a similar record that you can adapt to fit your needs. If your search did not result in a usable record from your collection, Alliance Plus Online, or a Z-Source, click Add Title to create a record from scratch. If Destiny does find matching records, what is next? When Destiny does locate one or more matching records, a list of them appears. Destiny returns all matching records from your collection, up to 200 records from Alliance Plus, and up to 200 records from each configured Z-Source.
If you searched for Any Type, records are also marked with their material type icon. To view a record, click the title or Details. If the record is from your collection, you can just add a copy for your library or media center. If the record is from Alliance Plus Online, Alliance A/V, or a Z-Source, click Save Title to add the MARC record to your collection.
Once you save the record, you can edit it, add it to a Resource List, or add copies to it.
