Add Copies (Textbook Manager)
The Add Textbook Copies, Add Teacher's Edition Copies, and Add Resource Kit Copies pages let you create multiple copies, and add information about them.

Note: If you are adding copies for a Resource Kit with components, make sure that you have first defined each component and its quantities from the Resource Kit Title Details page.

Select Catalog > Add Textbook. The Check/Set Sources page appears.
- If you are a district textbooks manager, select the Site Type and Site Name of the school that is to own the copies.
- Make selections for your search, and then click Go.
- From Search Results, click Details next to the title that will have multiple copies.
- Either:
- In the Supplemental Details sub-tab, click Add Copies.
- In the Copies sub-tab click Add Copies.
How do I add copies?
- From the Add Copies dropdown, select Without Barcodes.
- Select Number of Copies. Enter a number, up to 99,999, in the next field.
- (Optional) To assign barcode numbers:
- Select the first Starting Barcode option and enter the starting barcode number.
or - Select Assign next barcode to have Destiny automatically assign the barcode numbers.
It starts with the next available barcode number, shown in brackets.

- (Optional) To add barcodes from a file
- Select From Barcode File from the drop-down.
- Click Browse (or Choose File depending on your browser) to locate and select your file.

- Select a Condition for the copies.

- Select a Location for the copies.
Note: Assigning a Location allows you to conduct inventories for selected locations.
If the correct one does not appear in the list, click Other to add one. |
- Select a Budget Category for the copies.
Note: If the correct one does not appear in the list, click Other to add one. |
- (Optional) Enter the date you acquired the copies, the purchase price, and the purchase order number in the applicable fields.
- (Optional) assign these copies to a Copy Category, click Update. (Not available for district textbooks managers)
- (Optional) Add a note to the copies, click Add Note. Notes appear in when the copy is retrieved.
- (Optional) If you want to print the barcode labels, select the Print labels check box.
- When you are done, click Save Copies.

If you used a list of barcodes or a barcode file, Destiny generates a job summary listing the title, ISBN, and the each copy barcode number added or skipped, and the reason if skipped.

How do I add and transfer copies?
If you are district textbooks manager, you can create and transfer copies all in one procedure:
- For barcoded items:
- If the copies already have barcode numbers or if you are assigning them now, from the Add Copies dropdown, select with Barcodesand either:
- (Optional)To scan barcode numbers
- (Optional) To add barcodes from a file
- Select From Barcode File from the drop-down.
- Click Browse (or Choose File depending on your browser) to locate and select your file.
- If the copies will be barcoded later, select Number of Copiesand then enter a number, up to 99,999, in the next field.
- Select In Transit in the copy Status list.
- Select or enter any other information for the copies, as above.
- Click Save Copies.
- Destiny creates the copies and automatically transfers them to the school you selected in the Site Name list.
- You can track or stop the transfer in Transfer Textbooks.
- The destination school can receive the textbooks in Transfer Textbooks. If the copies do not have barcode numbers, the school has the option of rerouting some or all of them to another school.
How do I edit a copy?
The Edit Textbook Copy page allows you to modify copy-specific information for a single copy.

Select Catalog > Add Textbook. The Check/Set Sources page appears.
- Make selections for your search, and then click Go.
- From Search Results, click Details next to the title that will have multiple copies.
- In the Copies tab, click the edit icon,
. - To change the Status of the copy, select it from the drop-down.
- To change the Condition of the copy, select it from the drop-down.
- To change the Location, select it from the drop-down, or click Other to define a new location.
- To assign these copies to a Copy Category, click Update. (Not available for district textbooks managers)
- To add a note for this copy, click Add Note. Notes appear in Circulation when the copy is retrieved.
- If you want to print a replacement barcode label, select the Print labels checkbox.
- When you are done, click Save Copy.
How do I manage kit components?
If you have kits with multiple components, you can describe the each component and enter the quantity that each kit has.
Then, you must create a copy record for each kit that you have.
If you create the copies first, the quantity of each new component you add is 0 (zero).
- To define the kit is components and their quantities, click Components on the Supplement Details tab.
- To add copies of the kits, click Add Copies on the on either the Supplement Details tab or the Copies tab.
- To adjust the quantities of existing components, click Components on the Supplement Details tab, and then click the edit icon,
on the Components page.
Note: When you check the kit in or out, or take inventory, you also have the opportunity to verify or adjust the component quantities.

What happens when I move an existing copy from one school to another?
When a district textbook manager changes the association of a copy from one school to another:
- If the barcode number is already in use at the destination school, an alert message appears, and you must enter another barcode number.
- If there are overdue fines, then patron records from the old school continue to reflect them.
- If there are lost-copy fines, Destiny deletes them from the old school.
- If a copy is currently overdue when it is moved, no fine is generated.
- If the copy status is Lost or Checked Out, an alert message with a warning appears. If you proceed with the move, the copy status becomes Available at the destination school.
Region Format Support
To select a different Region Format:
Region format includes currency, date (dd/mm/yyyy), and time. Examples include United States Dollar (USD) and English (United Kingdom).
- Log in as a Destiny Administrator.
- Select Setup > Sites.
- Find your district, and then click
. The Update District Sites page appears.
- Use the Region Format drop-down to select the applicable format.
The currency symbol of the selected region appears.
